Hogs Back was founded in 1992 and is now one of the leading craft breweries in South-east England, supplying around 400 pubs. It's best known for such cask beers as TEA (Traditional English Ale) and Burma Star, an IPA-style strong beer.
Hog's Back, Brooklands Gold Star (England) Brooklands Gold Star recalls the medal awarded to elite drivers at the Brooklands motor racing circuit the first purpose-built circuit that lasted from 1907 to 1939. The label depicts a 24-litre Napier-Railton car, a Brooklands lap circuit record holder.
The beer is brewed with 100% Pearl barley malt and is hopped with Fuggles from the Puttenham Estate near Guildford. It has a straw colour and big earthy Fuggles aroma, with juicy malt and a herbal note. Hop bitterness builds in the mouth, balanced by cracker-like malt and tart grapefruit/citrus fruit. The finish has bitter hop resins, tart fruit and sappy malt; its finally dry and bitter.
Malt: high. Hops: high. Fruit: medium.
