Fuller's gears up for Mild Month
|
|
Still with Fuller's, the London brewer has announced a seasonal beer line-up ahead of 'Mild Month' campaign backed by CAMRA that runs through the month of May,
putting the spotlight on mild ales. Fuller's is getting in early and launching two mild ales into its seasonal ale range for April, which will both also be available throughout May.
Gales Festival Mild was originally produced in the early 1990s when CAMRA asked Gales brewery to develop a mild ale for their beer festival. Fuller's acquired Gales in 2005 and
has since maintained Gales Festival Mild as a staple of its seasonal beer portfolio. Joining it as a seasonal beer for April and May is Fuller's Hock, a 3.5% ABV cask conditioned ale.
Fuller's Head Brewer, John Keeling, says "Fuller's fans are an adventurous group and we enjoy challenging them. Mild is an historic ale style which has fallen out of favour recently, however
these two beers are fantastic examples of the style and I would recommend them to anyone, particularly in the run-up to Mild Month."

National Cask Ale Week
In its second year, National Cask Ale Week is back to celebrate Britain's national drink from 29th March - 5th April.
Following last year's success, hundreds of events will once again take place during Easter week across the UK to mark National Cask Ale Week organised by cask ale quality
accreditors Cask Marque, CAMRA, and many of the country's brewers and pub owners and operators.
In 2009, the great British pint enjoyed a storming year with 71 new breweries opening in the UK, taking the total up to 660 - the highest level since World War II.
This year National Cask Ale Week is asking ale lovers to support and celebrate cask ale and, where possible, "introduce a friend to this unique drink."

Brainwave, established in 1982, works with families to deliver individual, home
based therapy and exercises for children with disabilities and Development Delay
to reach their full potential. The beer will be available at the King Charles I, Northdown Street, N1, Wenlock,

Springhead's swap shop
Nottinghamshire's largest independent brewery, Springhead, is celebrating an 800% growth in demand for its reciprocal trading business from December 2009 to February 2010,
as a result of an intensified firkin swapping campaign. Like many small breweries Springhead has long been involved in a barrel exchange system with other like-minded breweries.
This co-operative effect enables them to reach a wider geographical audience. In the last six months Springhead has increased the number of breweries it |

trades with tenfold, swapping a mix of its five core beers with other similar microbreweries belonging to SIBA, The Society of Independent Brewers. Each microbrewery then has a range of different
beers from all around the country with which to trade, selling them on to their regular suppliers, pubs and pub groups. Springhead plans to trade with 40 other breweries in 2010 stretching from Newcastle to Cornwall.
